Daniel Lopatin, son of Russian US immigrants, has made a name for himself as a talented composer with experimental electronics as Oneohtrix Point Never. He has released three albums on mini-labels, collaborated with Antony Hegarty as a vocalist and with Animal Collective as a festival host (ATP), and wrote the music for Sofia Coppola's recent film "The Bling Ring" alongside Brian Reitzell. Lopatin's musical output has been likened by critics to a broken mirror in which sounds from the past refract. On his Warp debut "R Plus Seven," too, his penchant for the experimental always flashes out, while at the same time he ventures closer than ever before to traditional song structures, so that the ten new tracks seem both stirring and hypnotic in equal parts.
