Recorded at The Magpie Cage Recording Studio in Baltimore, MD, the album was produced and mixed by Grammy-nominated Tom Dalgety (Ghost, Royal Blood, Pixies), with additional engineering by J Robbins (Jawbreaker, Against Me!, The Sword).
The new album features fresh gutter hits like "Red Alert (Boss Metal Zone)," "Slaughter Beach," "Nosferatu Madre," "Skeletons on Mars," "Jackhammer Our Names" and "Mercy Brown" that easily take their rightful place alongside Clutch classics. "Sunrise On Slaughter Beach" is a new culmination of what Clutch began as teenagers in the early '90s. The four musicians, who met now three decades ago at Seneca Valley High in Germantown, Maryland share an unshakable musical and personal closeness. Although the musical roots of Bad Brains, Minor Threat and Rites Of Spring are clearly audible, Clutch create extremely literate and free-spirited music informed by the fury of hardcore and fuzzy, dynamic stoner rock.
"Sunrise On Slaughter Beach" introduces some "firsts" to Clutch's catalog: Vibraphone (by Gaster), Theremin (J. Robbins) and female backing vocals by singers Deborah Bond and Frenchie Davis. The album's nine songs are a varied journey that will delight longtime fans and newcomers alike. It's a new chapter in an ever-evolving story that means as much to fans as it does to the band itself.
