Anlässlich des 40-jährigen Jubiläums der Erstauflage von "Y" veröffentlicht The Pop Group eine Neuauflage ihres einflussreichen Debütalbums in Form von verschiedenen Formaten und Boxsets. "Y" wurde ursprünglich am 20. April 1979 veröffentlicht und zeigt die Band auf einem frühen Höhepunkt ihres Schaffens. Die visionären Texte von Mark Stewart, die zuckenden Rhythmen und die Instrumentierung von Gareth Sager (Gitarre, Saxophon, Klarinette, Klavier, Orgel), Bruce Smith (Schlagzeug, Perkussion), John Waddington (Gitarre, Bass) und Simon Underwood (Bass) und nicht zuletzt die unkonventionelle Produktion von Dennis Bovell machten "Y" schnell zu jenem epochalen Werk, das es bis heute geblieben ist.
