"Outside" is the 20th studio album by David Bowie. Back on board is Brian Eno, who had already supported Bowie on the Berlin Trilogy.
Subtitled "The Ritual Art Murder of Baby Grace Blue: A non-linear Gothic Drama Hyper-Cycle," the album centers Outside around the characters of a dystopian world on the eve of the 21st century. The album brought Bowie back to the mainstream rock music scene with the singles "The Hearts Filthy Lesson," "Strangers When We Meet," and "Hello Spaceboy" (remixed by the Pet Shop Boys)
A writer for Time Out magazine commented, "[The] edifice of sounds, cultures, rhythms, samples and textures, with random lyrics that don't so much tell a story as create word moods, offers the open-minded listener Bowie's best album in 15 years."
"Outside" made it to the highest position worldwide with position 8 in the UK, in Germany it was only enough for position 33.
