"The natural absolute" is a 1969 film based on the novel of the same name by Goffredo Parise and directed by Mauro Bolognini, director for which Ennio Morricone has set several films to music; the two leading actors are Sylva Koscina and Laurence Harvey.
The film belongs to the trend of bourgeois sentimental drama very popular in those years - the progenitor of which we could identify in the well-known "Put, one evening at dinner" - and enjoys a soundtrack that mixes classical, jazz, pop and lounge music in different reworkings of the main theme, as only Morricone was able to do. Among the orchestrations conducted by Bruno Nicolai, the piece “Assalito dalle rondini” stands out, an abstract composition for strings characterized by tension-laden dissonances and dramatic orchestrations.
Originally published in 1969 and reissued in a few subsequent editions, the soundtrack of "The Absolute Natural" had been missing on vinyl for 40 years: this new version, with remastered audio and a new graphic layout, finally returns this excellent soundtrack to its ideal size.
