The album Songwriter was released in 1993 when Cash recorded an album of self-penned songs. However, he promptly forgot about this album when he signed with American Recordings and presented himself to a whole new generation of fans as one of the best songwriters in the world. These (almost) forgotten 11 songs by the songwriter have now been reworked by his son John Carter and Cash's long-time producer David Ferguson.
