Legend Horace Andy is credited today primarily as a Massive Attack guest vocalist and for his livesets, based on his extensive catalog of 1970s Jamaican hits. 'Midnight Rocker', recorded with Adrian Sherwood, puts him back in the limelight as a contemporary artist. The album was met with rave reviews from all sides, including being named the Guardian's top album of the year. 'Midnight Scorchers' takes it a step further as a follow-up: with dubplate-style re-rubs (incl. mic features from Lone Ranger and Daddy Freddy), songs that don't quite fit into the 'Rockers' sequence, but get a chance to shine in the new set, and fresh mixes that let the striking arrangements flourish rhythmically. The artwork has also been reimagined, with award-winning animator Ruff Mercy (Gorillaz, Earl Sweatshirt, Thom Yorke) giving it a street-style graffiti spirit, which can also be seen in his psychedelic-colorful video for first single "Feverish," one Massive new take on a Horace Andy classic from his Studio One era. An essential second half of the 'Rockers & Scorchers' story, the album is a must-read for hardcore reggae fans and open-minded music lovers alike.
