Last spotted on BNR exploring the carnal contrasts of pleasure and pain with Miss Kittin, Djedjotronic returns to the Boys Noize HQ for more nocturnal mischief… It’s his first solo EP since ‘Drum Program’ in 2014, and he’s marking the occasion with some serious toys.

Strap up for the ‘Strapon’, the grand salvo of this deep tech quartet. A sweaty pulverising tech jam with all the subtlety of a jet black 15” double ender, its sweeping bass riff sways back and forth guaranteeing the essential climax every time.

‘Solar Bird’ takes us deeper into the Frenchman’s psyche as he takes us on a trip through techno past, present and future. Stark simplicity is the key message as radar bleeps ping hypnotically and a 4am atmosphere creeps up behind you shrouding you in icy drama.

Further into the EP we strike electro gold as Djedjotronic guides us through a maze of classic breakbeats with lavish metallic ripples, squelching acid flurries and industrial strength textures before we’re bid a passionately paranoid adieu on ‘System’… Minor key off-beat arpeggios buckle and bend while a downpitched vocal sample and mechanical whirrs and wheezes lace together mirroring the rugged rhythm arrangement.
