All My Friends

"After a tropical storm powered by gaming-vengeance battered the long lost Secret Island, our young protagonist DJ Sonikku - ruffled but not deterred, having drifted for months on a bird-nested raft - finds himself landing on the shores of New York City. Megadrive chip intact, mates along for the ride, and a half century of electronic heritage soaked up in a flash - All My Friends is the culmination of Sonikku's mental and spiritual journey into his own version of a hyperreal NYC.
A regular feature of the Sonikku homeland and epic structural facet, Chemical Plant is soaked and squeezed with just the right amount of Italo and disco, layered over a stocky 16-bit house groove and a slap heavy FM bass-line.
Sand Oasis is less about the nostalgic and more about Sonikku now. Beach-tanned drum warmth cracks, pops and whistles in and among sugar-coated, sweet-as-a-nut synth melodies and a rolling 'n' tumbling bass bump.
Hogging the B-side but to maximum effect, Untitled (Club Use) is a full on music-as-the-medium club statement. A longing and yearning to have have witnessed and being immersed in thriving 80's and 90's New York scene, drawing a distinctive and direct influence from Shep Pettibone and Junior Vasquez. Pure floor-flattening heat riding hard on a Jersey-edged drum shuffle and tightly-chopped vocal flourishes."
