To mark the 65th anniversary, John Coltrane's seminal album is released in two different LP editions within Blue Note's acclaimed audiophile Tone Poet series. The 1-LP mono edition (this), like the other LPs in the series, was mastered in full analog by Kevin Gray from the original tapes and is released as an RTI pressing (180 g) in a sturdy tip-on gatefold and padded inner sleeve. The 2-LP stereo edition is subtitled "The Complete Masters" and includes, in addition to the original album, this time in stereo, a second LP of alternate and incomplete previously unreleased takes. The 2-LP set (2 x 180 g - this) in sturdy tip-on gatefold and padded inner sleeves includes a bound booklet with never-before-seen session photos by Francis Wolff and an essay by Coltrane expert Ashley Kahn.
