The latest incarnation of JJ Whitefield, mastermind of retro funkateers Poets Of Rhythm, world groove pioneers Whitefield Brothers, afro-funk turned krautrock commune Karl Hector & The Malcouns as well as countless one-off projects, created a new outlet for hip hop inspired experimental funk:
Whitefield Soundz stands for a "no boundaries" approach where he can combine all of his influences and mix them up with heavy drums. Having released tracks with Mr. Lif, Lyrics Born, Edan, P.E.A.C.E (Freestyle Fellowship), Rammellzee (RIP) & Shockdell (which Tricky sampled for his 2014 released song "Lonnie Listen"), Whitefield is no stranger to working with MC´s.
On "What Remains" he teams up with Phluid, who let´s loose about our world going down over raw fuzzy live beats. The flip features a psychedelic rock version of the Whitefield Brothers classic “Safari Strut”, which actually was recorded prior to the version first released on the Earthology album in 2010.
