On his third album, Stellar Drifting, George FitzGerald presents an album of wonder and emotion, full of glittering melodies and dazzling electronics. The album is a real step forward in terms of scope and composition, and is considered one of the greatest works of our time in the field of atmospheric electronic music, with its feet on the dance floor, but with its heart 1000 miles above the earth itself
"Stellar Drifting" is FitzGerald's interpretation of the sound of complete freedom, in which he addresses the need to confront one's inner world and escape the feeling of limitation. To explore this sense of limitless living, FitzGerald drew inspiration from outer space, assembling the building blocks of the album from space imagery and audio recordings from space probes. The album also features some of the world's most fascinating artists and songwriters
Mercury-nominated Irish band SOAK lends their voice to "Rainbows and Dreams," Animal Collective figurehead Panda Bear adds a poetic flourish to "Passed Tense," and London Grammar returns the favor with "The Last Transmission" for FitzGerald's work on their #1 UK album, Californian Soil
George FitzGerald has been a prominent figure in electronic music for over a decade, with one foot in the underground and the other in the mainstream. He was at the forefront of the UK scene when he worked at London's iconic Black Market Records, and then spent a decade in Berlin, releasing on renowned labels like Aus and Hotflush Recordings, before signing to Domino and transitioning from club producer to album artist
Two critically acclaimed albums followed, "Fading Love" (2015) and "All That Must Be" (2018), on which he collaborated with artists such as Bonobo and Tracey Thorn, elevating his sound to atmospheric and global status.
