Mummy Club – Afterlife

Limited Edition of 200 Copies.

The idea behind the Afterlife project is to challenge how an SP1200 album can sound. Rather than emulating golden era hip-hop, we used the SP as a sound processor to incorporate the grainy textures achieved by extreme pitch manipulation into a dark, modern, musical context. By pushing the limits of acceptable degradation, we have created a forward-looking, original soundscape using ONLY samples filtered through the SP1200. Put simply, it sounds like nothing before it.

While the project may be difficult to pin down genre-wise, the informed listener might observe notes of atmospheric European jazz, Golden era hip-hop production, and subtle shades of '90s Memphis SP drum programming.
